The "2011 Baseball Experience" illustrates the benefits of in-depth analysis in a whole new way. Interactive dashboards break down team standings, player performances, pitches, and plays. You've never seen sports stats like these.

Baseball is a numbers game, and the most diehard baseball fans are veritable databases of batting averages, runs, and shutouts. They dissect games, assess players, and predict outcomes based on the many statistics available. In that sense, the sport and its followers have a lot in common with SAP business analytics software. It too slices and dices data to illustrate trends and make predictions.

This year, the previously distinct worlds of baseball and business analytics have combined in an exciting, insightful event called the 2011 Baseball Experience. SAP launched the free platform to provide users with an engaging way to learn about baseball and interact with business analytics solutions directly.

Once you register, you can access interactive dashboards, hands-on data exploration, and insightful daily blog posts from your computer or your mobile device. For now, we’ll take you on a tour of the various “fanalytic” dashboards you can expect to encounter.

The Team Analysis dashboard compares your favorite team head-to-head against other teams in their league.  Here you can find out if some teams rely more on their batting results or their pitching strength.

Once you review the team performance, you can delve deeper and look at individual player performance for that team.  Are the marquee players providing all the action, or are rising stars emerging?  Who is MVP for your favorite team at the plate or on the mound?

As the end of the regular season approaches, all eyes shift to the leader boards.  Here you can analyze how the top teams achieved and maintained their dominance.
